George KamauCo-Founder

George’s journey began on the dusty football fields of Nairobi, where he discovered that sport could offer hope, belonging, and purpose. As a young player at the Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA), he found more than a team, he found a community that believed in him.
That belief shaped his life.
From a youth volunteer to Chairperson, Sports Council Member, and Treasurer of the MYSA Executive Council, George grew into a leader dedicated to giving young people the same opportunities he once received. His work coordinating sports programs across eight centers, and helping craft MYSA’s 10-year strategic plan deepened his conviction that sports could transform entire communities.
In 2007, his passion took him beyond Kenya through the Norwegian Fredskorpset Exchange Programme. As the National Sports Officer in Uganda, he built systems, leagues, and policies that touched youth across eight districts. His feasibility study in South Sudan inspired the creation of the Rumbek Youth Sports Association, proof that a single idea could spark change across borders.
George went on to support the East Africa Cup for five years and later strengthened the structures of Ushuru FC as a consultant. But through every achievement, one dream kept growing: to create a home where young people could be inspired, protected, and empowered through sport.
That dream became the Center for Sports and Growth.

Today, George leads the organisation he co-founded with his friend Takahiro Shinozaki from Japan, driven by the same belief that guided him as a boy on the field:

When you invest in young people, you build stronger communities and a brighter future for all.
