East Africa Cup 2024

The East Africa Cup (EAC), an annual event held in Moshi, Tanzania, has distinguished itself as a transformative gathering uniting hundreds of youths and sports enthusiasts from across East Africa over the past two decades. Going beyond the conventional sports tournament, the EAC strategically utilises sports and culture as potent instruments to establish a platform for youth empowerment, instilling in them the belief in their potential to enact positive change within their communities.
In our dedicated participation in this noteworthy event, we proudly assembled a team comprising 13 talented girls and three committed officials. Our primary objective was to foster a conducive environment for learning and facilitate the exchange of experiences with other like-minded organisations within the sports sector. Actively engaging in various training sessions encompassing crucial topics such as menstrual hygiene, the laws of the game, and media training. Our team also undertook to lead a seminar on drug and substance abuse. This was a new topic introduced at the East Africa Cup, and Center for Sports and Growth was considered the most competent to undertake this session as they are the most experienced and engage their youth on a day-to-day basis while implementing activities.
Furthermore, our youth coaches seized the opportunity to refine their skills through a comprehensive coaching training program offered at the event, enhancing their capabilities for future endeavours.
The reverberations of our participation in the East Africa Cup are evident, as all attendees are now esteemed as role models by their peers. The parents of the participating children expressed overwhelming support and appreciation for this enriching experience. Their satisfaction extended beyond the active sports involvement of their children to the diverse training sessions offered during the event.
In the fiercely competitive realm of sports, our girls’ team demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, culminating in a commendable second-place finish in the final. This success serves as a testament to the profound impact of the East Africa Cup, not solely as a sports competition but also as a transformative platform fostering holistic development and empowerment for the youth.
We extend our gratitude for the support provided by the esteemed donor, recognising the pivotal role they play in facilitating initiatives that contribute to the positive growth and development of youth in the East African region. Your continued support enables us to further these impactful endeavours and create lasting change.
